We would like to introduce ourselves! We are staffed with 1 doctor available to see your loved ones, Dr. Marie Breuker D.V.M. We also have 3 Licensed Veterinary Technicians on staff; Kaylee Stever L.V.T, Sheri Church L.V.T, Erin Rottier L.V.T, and let’s not forget our wonderful receptionists and assistants that are with us every step of the way in aiding to your precious furry family!

Meet Dr. Marie Breuker

I have wanted to be a veterinarian since I was 11 years old and it was because I wanted to learn medicine. I had just gotten into riding horses and my family bought two horses. My horse became injured, and when the Equine veterinarian came out all I wanted to do was to learn how to treat the wound. I now had a goal and I continued to work toward that through my education. I showed on the Arabian Horse Circuit across the country for many years. I graduated High School top in my class from Grand Rapids Catholic Central and continued my education at Michigan State University with a bachelor’s in Animal Science and graduated from veterinary school in 2007. During my time in veterinary school, I moved to Fremont from Grand Rapids. I fell in love with the community and enjoyed the farms. I started my veterinary career in Big Rapids as a mixed animal veterinarian and joined Fremont Animal Hospital in 2009. I purchased the veterinary practice in 2021. I married Anthony in 2007 and became a part of Breuker Dairy Farm. Our three children grew up on the farm and started showing pigs and sheep in 4H. As a family, we enjoy traveling to show sheep, ORV with a side-by-side and four-wheeler on trails across Michigan, and vacationing to Michigan’s UP and around the country.

Our History

Fremont Animal Hospital has proudly served the community since 1960, when it was founded by Dr. Paul H. Snyder, a Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine graduate. In 1986, the clinic was entrusted to Dr. Carl L. Clark, and then to Dr. Richard G. Russell in 1990. Drs. Clark and Russell worked side-by-side for over a year for a smooth transition.

In 2009, Dr. Marie Breuker joined the team as an associate veterinarian, bringing dedication and expertise to the clinic. In 2021, she became the proud owner, continuing the legacy of veterinary excellence at Fremont Animal Hospital.

A nod to our history lives on in the names of our four exam rooms (Gimpy, Snickers, Popcorn, and Beezly), named after Dr. Russell’s beloved clinic cats from the 1990s. These small tributes are a daily reminder of the warmth and character that have defined our clinic for decades.
